Bonitta: Del Core's captaincy the key in win over Dominican Republic

 

Italy's Antonella Del Core was praised by her coach for her captaincy against Dominican Republic

Tokyo, Japan, May 17, 2016 - Italian coach Marco Bonitta singled out his captain, Antonella Del Core, for her leadership during the win over Dominican Republic, while opposing coach Marcos Kwiek was happy his team was improving.

Italy coach Marco Bonitta - “It was a difficult match for us. The Dominican Republic didn't play their best in the first two matches. We beat a strong team. I appreciate my team's effort.

“Del Core did a great job as captain of organizing the team and getting the players to fight until the end.”

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek - “It was a tough match. Compared to the first and second matches, we are getting better. We made a lot of mistakes in the final set.”

Italy captain Antonella Del Core - “Tonight's opponent had a different style and rhythm. They had good blocks and are tall. We had trouble to find our rhythm.”

“We made mistakes, especially on serve but were able to concentrate on the key points.”

Dominican Republic captain Bethania De La Cruz - Compared to the first two matches, our form is getting better. We could not finish our attacks and lacked concentration and that is the reason for the result.”
