Women's World Olympic Qualification approaches mid-point

 

Tokyo, Japan, May 17, 2016 - The FIVB Volleyball Women's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan will cross over its midway point as the fourth competition day unfolds at Tokyo's Metropolitan Gymnasium on Wednesday.


Peru and Italy will open the fourth competition day at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan.  Based on recent head-to-head record, unbeaten Italy are the clear favourite, but Peru will be looking to add to their two wins in row in Tokyo so far.  Read more.



After their fantastic performance against hosts Japan on the third competition day at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo, Korea will count on top scorer Kim Yeon-Koung to lead the team to another victory on Wednesday, but opponents Kazakhstan will be desperate to score their first win at the tournament.  Read more.



The Netherlands and the Dominican Republic will face each other on the fourth competition day at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan.  The European side has a favourable head-to-head record, while the squad from the Caribbean will be looking for its first victory in Tokyo.  Read more.



The home team faces another AVC side at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo. After losing to Korea on Tuesday, Japan will be looking for a rebound against Thailand.  Interestingly, the Japanese defeated the Thai the last time they met at world-level tournaments, but when it comes to continental competitions, it is Thailand that won the last five times.  Read more.
