Tokyo, Japan, May 22, 2016 - Peru coach Mauro Marasciulo declared Thailand to be the strongest team in Asia, while Thai coach Radchatagriengkai said volleyball in Thailand will be stronger after this tournament.
Thailand coach Radchatagriengkai K - “We have been working four years to prepare for this tournament. The Olympics are our dream.”
“The players did a good job. What we did will be valuable to people, especially young people, in Thailand. This will help Thai volleyball reach the world-class level.”
Peru coach Mauro Marasciulo - “I’m happy Peru got the chance to play in this competition. I think Thailand is the best team in Asia. They beat Korea and played Japan close.
“Today they beat us in straight sets. The scores in the sets were close. In that sense we were able to achieve one of our goals here.”
Thailand captain Thinkaow Pleumjit - “We were able to prove our spirit in this tournament match after match. Both teams played their best today despite us being eliminated from Olympics.
Peru captain Mirtha Uribe - “We tried to win, but Thailand is one of the best teams in the competition and we could not get the result.”
Thailand player Apinyapong Wilavan - “It was a tough match today because we played the game with sorrow. We had no chance for the Olympics. It was sad for us. My teammates played with sorrow.”
